I. GENERAL A. Committee Name: International Scientific Committee on Fortifications and Military Heritage. B. Statutes: The statutes have been adopted on the 8th February 2005 by the ICOMOS Executive Committee in Paris. C. Date of last elections: During the first Committee meeting in Valetta (Malta) on 18th June 2005. D. Date of next elections: October 2008, during the Annual Committee meeting at the XVI General Assembly, Canada 2008.
II. GOVERNANCE AND MEMBERSHIP
A. COMMITTEE OFFICERS Existing Bureau officers are:
ICOMOS members with professional background and substantial experience in different spheres related to the historic fortification and military heritage field C. VOTING MEMBERS 1. Voting Members are the members that have been nominated by their own national committees. 2. Voting members are as follows:
D. CORRESPONDING MEMBERS 1. Corresponding members. In our Committee we have: Expert Members – Unlimited number per country. They have no limits of service terms. The Committee on the basis of proven and recognized experience must accept them. The expert members:
Informant Members – Appointed by the National Committees. They are without the expertise needed for expert and voting members, but wish to gain knowledge from the committee. Informant members do not vote and have no term limits. 2. At that moment we are gathering the declarations from those ICOMOS members who would like to take part in the work of the Committee.
III. ACTIVITIES A. MEETINGS, SYMPOSIA The Committee held its first annual meeting in Valetta (Malta) in June 2005. This meeting was devoted to the organizations problems and triennial programme 2005 - 2008. The second meeting is planning in Xian during the XV ICOMOS General Assembly in October. The next meetings with scientific conferences are planning in:
B. PUBLICATIONS AND WEB SITE The Committee web site is in the planning stage (the works are not finished yet)
C. PROGRAMMES ISCFMH has got the proposal of the Triennial Programme 2005 – 2008 of the activity.
D. INTER-INSTITUTIONAL COOPERATION ISCFMH plan to cooperate with other ICOMOS
International Scientific Committee, especially CIIC and CIVVIH, Cultural
Tourism, ICOMOS National Committees, ICOMOS International Secretariat
in the process of examination of the nominations on the World Heritage
List, CIEFAL, other cooperative partners of ICOMOS, for example ICCROM,
ICOM, DOCOMOMO, TICCIH, Blue Shield etc., other international and
national bodies, such as NATO, Ministries of Defence of different
countries, Ministries of Culture of different countries, NGO
organizations like International Fortress Council, Fortress Study Group,
etc. IV. FINANCIAL SUPPORT
The committee has no permanent financial support. The financial expenses of attending meetings fall upon individual members of the Committee who cannot obtain funding from their employers. |
